It was reported that hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong has great love for his fans.

Kim Hyun Joong will hold the first fan meeting of the new year on Jan 21. This fan-meet will be ticketed but the admission ticket is only priced at 20,000 won.

Kang In Suk, the Director of music enterprise department of Kim's agency, Keyeast, explained that the fan meeting is virtually the same as a small-scale solo concert, but it was pushed forward at Kim Hyun Joong's request. It will be a fan service and one that almost makes no money.

This fan meeting was abruptly decided to be held. The fan meeting for Korean fans was arranged as the first schedule (activity) of 2012 because Kim Hyun Joong didn't want to make his Korean fans disappointed by his new year's promotion in Japan.

Kim Hyun Joong's love for his fans is more than just this. One company suggested large amounts of money to promote its product at his fan meeting, but it was refused. The director Kang said it was because Kim Hyun Joong insisted he could not possibly make his fans spend their money for his own interests.

김현중은 내년 1월 21일 서울 잠실실내체육관에서 신년 첫 팬미팅을 개최한다. 그런데 이 팬미팅은 유료로 진행되는데 입장권이 2만원밖에 안된다.

물론 일반적인 팬미팅은 무료로 입장이 가능하다. 하지만 이는 소규모 클럽 등을 대관했을 경우로, 김현중 팬미팅이 개최되는 잠실실내체육관은 7000명 이상의 관객이 입장 가능한 대규모 공연장이다.

뿐만 아니라 팬들과 토크쇼 식으로 진행되는 일반적인 팬미팅과 달리 김현중은 첫 번째 미니앨범 '브레이크다운'과 두 번째 미니앨범 '럭키'의 수록곡을 들려주는 등 10곡이 넘는 노래를 부른다. 사실상의 단독 콘서트나 다름이 없다.

잠실실내체육관에 음향 및 조명을 갖추고 공연을 하는 다수 국내 가수들은 적게는 5만원에서 많게는 9만원 대의 입장료를 받는다. 하지만 김현중의 팬미팅은 반에도 못 미치는 2만원의 입장료라 잘해야 본전, 못되면 손해를 볼 전망이다.

이에 대해 소속사 키이스트 음반사업부의 강인석 본부장은 “사실상 작은 단독 콘서트나 다름이 없지만, 김현중 본인의 부탁으로 이번 팬미팅을 추진하게 됐다. 아마 벌 수 있는 돈은 거의 없고 팬서비스 차원이 될 전망”이라고 설명했다.

이번 팬미팅 행사 또한 갑작스레 이뤄져 눈길을 끌었다. 그 이유는 새해 일본 프로모션을 나서게 될 김현중이 국내팬들을 섭섭하게 할 수 없다는 이유로 2012년 첫 일정을 국내 팬미팅으로 잡은 것이다.

김현중의 팬 사랑은 이에 그치지 않았다. 한 기업이 김현중과 함께 제품 프로모션을 진행하고자 거액을 제시했지만, 일언지하 거절한 것. 그 이유에 대해 강 본부장은 “자신의 이익을 위해 팬들의 돈을 쓰게 할 수 없다는 김현중의 주장이 컸다”고 전했다.

SS501로 데뷔 당시부터 김현중은 자신만의 독특한 언행과 주장을 펼쳐온 아이돌 가수로 유명했다. 이런 김현중의 독특함은 스타로 부상한 지금도 그 색을 잃지 않고, 지금의 자신을 만들어 준 팬들에 대한 별난 사랑으로 나타나는 것이다.
